Which RimWorld crops are worth growing, and where? Pick a category below, then compare crops across terrains. Numbers are pulled from the RimWorld Wiki.
Fertility sensitivity is how much a crop cares about terrain: a crop at 0% grows at the same speed everywhere, a crop at 100% grows proportionally slower on poor terrain and proportionally faster on rich terrain or Hydroponics. Hydroponics gives the highest fertility in the game (280%), but every basin needs continuous power β a blackout (including a solar flare) can rot an entire hydroponics crop within about 8 hours, so it's a high-yield, high-risk choice compared to a field.
The wiki's own "Plants per pawn" formula: hunger rate Γ· (nutrition/day Γ meal-type efficiency Γ Plant Harvest Yield) β how many of this crop, growing at once, feed one pawn indefinitely. Lower is more space-efficient. n/a for anything that isn't human food.
How efficiently the raw crop turns into edible nutrition once cooked β a nutrient paste meal stretches a harvest 3x further than eating it raw, while a lavish meal is the most nutrient-hungry way to eat it. Pick whichever meal type your colony actually cooks, or dial in a custom % if you're modeling something else entirely (a mod, a different food chain, etc).
Plant Harvest Yield is how much of the average harvest a colonist actually collects β it depends on their Plants skill, Manipulation/Sight capacities, and the difficulty setting. 100% is roughly a Plants-8 colonist with no bonuses or penalties; a skilled specialist can push well past 100%, while an unskilled or injured one can fall much lower. Hunger rate is how much nutrition one pawn burns per day β 1.6 is the human baseline, but animals and some xenotypes/genes differ a lot (e.g. an alpaca only hungers at 0.44/day), so override it if you're modeling something other than a baseline human.
Light requirement
worst β bestMost plants need at least this much light to grow at all, then keep speeding up until 100% (a Sun lamp). A couple of species (Nutrifungus, Timbershroom) invert this entirely β any light kills them, so there's no "more is better" range to show for those.
Crop shape comparison

- Yield is the raw harvest size (e.g. Corn's 22 vs Rice's 6), not divided by grow days β Speed already covers how fast that harvest comes, so a per-day yield axis would just double-count it. Grazing nutrition/day is kept as the animal-feed angle.
- Speed = inverse of real grow days; Work efficiency = inverse of total sow+harvest ticks; Tolerance = inverse of fertility sensitivity β all three read "bigger shape = better" like every other axis, even though their underlying stat is lower-is-better.
- Speed, Tolerance, and Beauty are scaled against every crop in the tool, not just this view, so a weak crop in a small category doesn't look artificially maxed-out. Other axes (Yield, Grazing/day, Work efficiency, Longevity) are scaled within the current view only.
